University Learning Centers is an established program that has the advantage of partnering with University campuses, k-12 schools, and educational nonprofit organizations. This enables our staff to actively recruit a diverse population of academically talented students and prepair them to serve as tutors, mentors, and workshop leaders. Indy Learning Centers handles all aspects of the hiring process: training, scheduling, placement of tutors, monitoring, payroll, evaluating services and data analysis of services per goals given by administrators. Also, background checks, employment verification and liability are completed and assumed by Indy Learning Centers through IUPUI.
Our program’s goals are to customize our services to serve each school or organizations needs and to provide talented, trained, motivated tutors who are “content area specialists.” Their strengths in math, science and literacy enables them to supplement the instructional team and increase the size of the student academic safety net. During the 2013‐2014 school year over half of our tutors were majoring in a STEM field which allowed students to be mentored by, interact with, and exposed to pre‐STEM professionals.
For the past few years Indy Learning Centers’ tutors have been staffing school learning centers, tutoring in media centers, providing supplementary instruction in classrooms, assisting in labs, providing content area expertise in situations where the instruction was offered online and staffing after school academic support programs. The versatility of ILC tutors gives each schools administrator’s great flexibility in assigning them to student populations who may benefit from their assistance. Tutors offer great flexibility as they have supported students through the
following services:
· Providing academic interventions for students at risk of not passing courses and standardized tests
· Offering instruction and review content across the curriculum for students who have not mastered standards
· Supporting classroom teachers by offering supplementary instruction
· Conducting one‐on‐one tutoring or small group tutoring sessions throughout the school day and after school
· Assisting students who are taking credit recovery and online courses by re‐teaching content
· Providing opportunities for students to have instruction on work that was missed due to absences
· Assisting with enrichment activities for after school programing
· Providing college and career readiness assistance with students by helping with FAFSA, Scholarship applications, college applications, and career exploring
The core belief that guides Indy Learning Centers’ staff and tutors is that all students should have the academic support they need to thrive and succeed. When the student succeeds, we all succeed.
Plans
Hourly Plan
This is our most popular plan, as it can serve the most students, and most flexible approach. How it works is the school will determine times when tutoring should take and how many tutors they would want. For instance a school wanted 2 tutors Monday –Thursday 3-6 pm this for the academic year this would likely be 2 tutors * 3 hours * 144 days * $19.50 per hour this would cost $16,848 Tutors would work primarily with homework help depending on the setting this could be available to all students. Tutors can work 1 to 1, small groups, and help in classrooms. Our tutors will record each session, and provide real time data on tutoring activy.
Student Served Plan
In a student service plan we try to dedicate 1 hour per week per student. This plan is flexible and can be split up between two sessions, or even combined into small group sessions. Student Service plans go beyond just homework help but infuses, tutoring, mentoring, and workshops into the program. This program works best for group of students with similar learning objectives. 30 students * 32 weeks * $19.50 this would total $18,432 for the academic year and would include performance based tracking based on the outcomes for the 30 students
Family Supported Plan
The family supported plan is the same as the in school programs other than whom pays for it. We handle all the payments and the logistics, and can still provide data on student improvement. The parent plan does require a level of participation, and a agreement is still signed to cover facility use, liability, and data transfer. The family supported plan requires 30 students to start, parents will be billed monthly, and will commit to the full academic period. Family supported program is designed to be an after school program. The hours and days would be set for the year. The cost of the program is $615 per year per student This is charged $61.50 per month using recurring ach payment system. This system includes a performance based tracking system.
Online
Our online services, operate similar to our on site services, rather than we use online systems to connect with students. Online can be configured per hour, or per student. Our online tutors, can work 1-1 and in small groups.
Custom Plan
The custom plan can be a combination of the other plans, we are a education solution provider, we want to serve the school, in what works best as part of the budget, student needs, and outcomes needed. Overall the our staffing model is 19.50 per hour. We have staff trained to provide tutoring, mentoring, and workshops.
