    Under the name STEM Mentors (and, later, STEM Club), we place enthusiastic college tutors and mentors in elementary, middle, and high schools in Central Indiana. They help students achieve excellent grades in STEM studies and encourage students to focus their postsecondary studies in STEM fields.

    We change our name to Indy Learning Centers to indicate our addition of languages and the arts to our STEM offerings.

2007-2008 Academic Year: Create STEM Mentors

  • Work with 4 schools and 16 tutors in after-school programs
  • Host Pathways to Engineering Camp at Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI)

2008-2009 AY: Renew funding and grow program

  • Work with 6 schools and 24 tutors in after-school programs
  • Host Pathways to Engineering Camp at IUPUI
  • Partner with Indiana Campus Compact and AmeriCorps

2009-2010 AY: Add additional partnerships as STEM Club

  • Work with 11 schools and 28 tutors in after-school programs
  • Partner with Learning Center Success LLC
  • Serve Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) secondary schools
  • Partner with Employ Indy Youth Works
  • Partner with INSTEMWorks project

University Learning Centers is implementing cutting-edge technology to connect one-on-one with students using tools such as video tutoring and digital whiteboards. We will soon provide additional tutoring and homework-help resources, as well as vital information about Indiana universities and the college admissions process.
